Good Morning Britain has come under fire from viewers after Ed Balls interviewed Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, with some calling the segment was "biased" due to Yvette being his wife.Ed and Yvette, both 55, tied the knot in 1998 and made history as the first married couple to serve together in the British cabinet when Yvette was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury in January 2008.The couple have three children: daughters Ellie and Maddy, and a son named Joel.
On Monday's episode of GMB, Yvette, who has been the Shadow Home Secretary since 2021, joined her husband Ed and co-presenter Kate Garraway on the programme.The Labour MP was there to talk about the recent riots that have intensified over the past week following the tragic deaths of three girls in Southport, prompting the Prime Minister to convene an emergency Cobra meeting to address the unrest.
Kate began the discussion by saying: "Still to come, the home secretary will be joining us shortly and who Ed of course is married to.
How has it been for you going through what you know being with the home secretary while all this has been happening?"Ed confessed: "There have been a few conversations but I haven't seen her for the past week.
