Tragedy as person dies on railway tracks with trains delayed

A person was found dead early today after emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on railway tracks, police have revealed.

No sex or age of the person has been released by British Transport Police. The tragedy led to warnings of possible delays and cancellations to trains in Greater Manchester during Tuesday morning's busy rush-hour.

British Transport Police said its officers and paramedics were called to the scene of the tragedy, near Congleton in Cheshire at around 6am on Tuesday. Try MEN Premium now for FREE...

But the Berlinale — a public institution created at the beginning of the Cold War in 1951 — could be changing course next year with the appointment of Tricia Tuttle, a progressive American film journalist and curator who led the BFI London Film Festival during a fast-growing five-year chapter, and has been indirectly tasked by Germany’s culture minister Claudia Roth to turn the Berlinale into a proper rival to Cannes and Venice, while maintaining its political edge and flare for arthouse cinema.
