The US State Department has joined the UK's Foreign Office in warning tourists about visiting the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago.
Around 30,000 UK tourists normally visit the tropical destination each year. The UK Foreign Office issued a warning at the end of last week.
The US State Department now says: "Reconsider travel to Trinidad and Tobago due to crime. Exercise increased caution in Trinidad and Tobago due to terrorism and kidnapping.
Some areas have increased risk. "U.S. government personnel are prohibited from travelling to the following areas in Port of Spain: Laventille, Beetham, Sea Lots, Cocorite, and the interior of Queens’ Park Savannah.
