Three of Renfrewshire's finest are in the pursuit of medals at the Paris Olympics

Renfrewshire’s Olympians are today preparing for the pinnacle of their careers.Three athletes from the area are included in Team GB’s 327 competitors – featuring 34 Scots – at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in the French capital Paris.The action gets underway this morning following last night’s dazzling opening ceremony.Kilbarchan AAC star Jemma Reekie will be aiming to do better than the fourth-placed finish she achieved in the 800m in the final at the previous games in Japan.Since then, the Beith-born running star, 26, has become a world indoor silver medallist at the recent championships in Glasgow and took her personal best down to 1:55.61 in London earlier this month.Jemma’s games begin on August 3 with the first round of the women’s 800m from 10.10am Paris time.

The semi-finals are scheduled for the following day, beginning at 7.35pm and the final on August 5 at 8.45pm.
