Rebecca Rubin Senior Film and Media Reporter Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried will star in “The Housemaid,” a film adaptation of the popular novel by Freida McFadden. “Bridesmaids” and “A Simple Favor” filmmaker Paul Feig will direct the psychological thriller for Lionsgate.
In the film, Sweeney will play Millie, a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to wealthy couple Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew.
Yet, according to the official logline, “Millie soon learns the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.” “I’m thrilled to have ‘The Housemaid’ join our upcoming slate,” Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair, said in a statement. “A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start.
My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.” Rebecca Sonnenshine is adapting the screenplay.
