Paolo Nutini has been hailed for his generosity ahead of a rare hometown gig to raise money for charity. The New Shoes singer will take to the stage at Paisley Town Hall tonight.

Tickets for the homecoming gig were sold via a donate to win text message competition, with entries costing £3. The proceeds from the concert are being given to two charities.

The cash will be split between the Paisley-based Star Project and Médecins Sans Frontières UK, which is also known as Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

MSF, which originated in France, is known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries which have been affected by endemic diseases.
