A Kilmarnock mum says she was left "speechless" after claiming the branch manager at a letting agency threatened her with court action only 14 hours after the devastating fire at her home.Joanne Lewis, 34, was at her three-bed maisonette on Kerr Road in Kilmarnock with her daughter Zoe, 12, when their chest freezer caught fire. The blaze started on Monday, June 17 at 1.57am, leaving the living room and hall completely destroyed, while the rest of the house has a lot of thick smoke damage.

The mum and daughter lost four pets in the fire, as well as personal belongings.Joanne has been renting the property from the Kilmarnock property firm for almost four-and-a-half years. The property failed an electricity safety test 10 weeks prior to the incident and, according to Joanne, the agency blamed her for refusing the access to the electrician.

After the incident took place, Joanne claims that the branch manager threatened her with court action and attempted to serve an eviction notice.Joanne said: "I wasn't refusing the access.

I changed the date with the electrician because I had an appointment at the doctor and then I had to change the date because Zoe was having meltdowns and when she is like this, we can't let people in.
