A man has been convicted of possessing a gun after being pulled over by police in Glasgow Steven McGarry, 37, was stopped by officers from Greater Glasgow’s Serious and Organised Crime’s Disruptions Unit on January 17.
A warrant was then executed at a property in Glenapp Avenue in Paisley, where a firearm and ammunition were recovered. McGarry pleaded guilty to the offences at the High Court in Glasgow today.Detective Inspector David Bell said: "These were significant recoveries and underlines our commitment to tackle drugs and violence across Scotland.
Officers acting on intelligence stopped a vehicle in Govan, which led to the subsequent search of the property in Paisley. "Disrupting the activities of criminals like McGarry and making the country an extremely hostile environment for them to operate is one of Police Scotland’s top priorities.
There is no place for criminality in our society and, working in partnership with law enforcement agencies and the members of the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce, we will continue our fight against those involved in these types of offences to keep our communities safe.
