Fast solar winds are predicted to give rise to the Northern Lights over parts of Scotland tonight.The far north of Scotland could see periods of visible aurora borealis on Monday night if skies are clear, according to the Met Office.The space weather forecast shows that the far north of Scotland and places on a similar latitudes will get a glimpse of the otherworldly show.
The Northern Lights are most likely to be seen tonight with the chances falling on Tuesday - Halloween night.The Met Office's space weather forecast reads: "Ongoing fast solar winds are likely bring periods of visible aurora to the far north of Scotland and similar latitudes on 30 Oct, given any clear skies."A chance of this briefly extending a little further south, however this is low confidence.
While there remains a chance of slightly enhanced aurora on 31 Oct, this potential will gradually reduce."Even if the Northern Lights are expected to appear, whether we see them or not depends on the weather.
Wet conditions may preclude any stargazing.The Met Office's Monday night forecast reads: "Mostly dry and chilly across the north with isolated showers near coasts.
