School for young gamers to pursue 'career in esports' launches at Media City

A gaming school for young people has in Media City. A first of it's kind, the Manchester Esports Academy (MEA) will give access to the multi-billion pound industry for those aged between eight and 16-years-old.

The academy was officially launched by member of parliament Angela Rayner on Saturday (June 3) as part of the 'We Invented the Weekend' festival in Media City and Salford Quays.

During the festival, families were given taster sessions of the MEA syllabus which will include professional coaching, careers education and health and nutrition. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community Established by IN4 and operating at HOST (Home of Skills & Technology’s) in Media City, MEA will be available for parents through a monthly subscription, however, it will be fully subsidised for young people in Greater Manchester from disadvantaged backgrounds and those being supported by Children in Need.

The MEA programme will be delivered by Esports Coaching Academy (ECA) certified coaches, which ensures the highest standards in coaching with a combination of personalised guidance and specialised training modules.
