A flight from Tenerife to Manchester was forced into an emergency landing after a child fainted on board. The Ryanair flight RK1248 was on its way to the UK from Tenerife South Airport on Wednesday afternoon (October 18) when the incident unfolded.
Spanish air traffic controllers said the boy, whose age has not been revealed, had fainted on board. His condition following the medical emergency has not been confirmed.
The Boeing 737 plane was turned back while above the Atlantic as it made its way towards Manchester Airport. It landed at Fuerteventura around 90 minutes after it had taken off, shortly after 3pm. It is not known if the boy was taken to hospital following the emergency landing. The flight eventually landed in Manchester at 10pm after the unscheduled diversion.
