If you've ever waited for a parcel only for it to arrive when you're not home, it can be a chore to go to the Post Office to collect it yourself.But this is set to change from next month, as Royal Mail is updating its redelivery process to make it "even easier" for households to get their packages that can't fit through the post box or require a signature.From May, postal workers will either leave your parcel with a neighbour, in a safe place or attempt a second delivery the next day, eliminating the need to pick it up yourself.Announcing the change on Twitter on Monday, Royal Mail wrote: "From 2 May 2023, if you're not home and your parcels won't fit through the letter box, or need a signature, posties will automatically redeliver the next working day."If you're not in on the first delivery attempt, Royal Mail will leave a 'Something for you' card, specifying whether the package has either been left with a neighbour, in a safe place, or whether it will be automatically delivered the next working day.You can also reschedule the next day delivery to a day that suits you on the Royal Mail website.Households will no longer be able to collect the parcel at a post office after the first delivery attempt.
