The Prince and Princess of Wales also shone in their coronation attire while their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis charmed the crowds during the unforgettable Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.
The day seemed to herald the start of a fresh era of modern monarchy filled with hope for the future.
