Police in riot gear were drafted in and roads were closed off after a man stood on a roof began to hurl tiles and brick down onto cars below.
Paul Rutledge, 31, pleaded guilty to six counts of criminal damage after the rampage in the early hours and faces a sentencing hearing in court next month.
Footage taken by a bystander and posted on Facebook appears to show a figure throwing tiles from the rooftops of a row of terraced houses on Frederick Street in Widnes, Cheshire.
Police with riot shields can be seen in various locations. A number of streets in the vicinity were cordoned off during the incident last Tuesday, March 21, police confirmed.
