Believing that the allegations against her son were lies, Wendy refused to be cut out of her grandchild's life. But a short time after first arriving in the village, Wendy was horrified when Lee was left in a coma after a confrontation with Victoria's brother, Robert Sugden.
and when she ran into Victoria at the hospital, she swore to her that she would regret what she'd done to her son. A few months later, Wendy was left devastated as Lee died from his injuries.
She ended up settling in the Dales, getting a job working as a nurse for Liam Cavanagh and Manpreet Sharma at Abbott Lane Surgery and moved to the village, much to Victoria's horror.
