Dan Armstrong says there's no chance Kilmarnock will treat their clash with Rangers as a free hit.Teams may be forgiven for writing off their matches with the Old Firm, but winger Armstrong insists that's not the mentality the Ayrshire side will ever have.Heading into the crucial season opener with Michael Beale's men at Rugby Park, Killie's POTY is aiming for three points to kick-off the campaign.He said: “Playing Rangers is massive in a game like this, if we can get anything from it then it’ll give us a confidence boost heading into the other games. “No game is easy in this league, but you can either shy away from a challenge or look forward to it, and this dressing room is looking forward to it. “We ran the Old Firm close a couple of times last season, it’s going to be difficult but hopefully we can give the fans another result against a big side. “When you look back at last season we’d have loved to get a result against one of the two sides. “People say they’re free hits, but that’s not the case, you want to go out and win a game. “It’s a goal of mine and a goal of the team to win these games this season."Armstrong admit it's unlikely they'd catch Rangers cold on an occasion like this.“I can’t imagine Rangers being cold to be honest," he said. "They’re a great side and they’ve got lots about them. “They’ve got a new squad but they’ll have been working just as hard as us during pre-season. “Rangers will need to be at their best and we will need to be at our best too."
