Cheeky Chris Sutton trolled Kris Boyd on day one of their box office Sky Sports team-up as the Celtic hero had the last laugh at the Rangers strike legend's expense. Record Sport columnist Sutton was a big-name signing for the Scottish Premiership broadcasters for the 2023/24 season and the Parkhead hero teased fireworks after the announcement that he had made the switch from BT Sport.
And he didn’t have to wait long for the opportunity to get a few verbal jabs into his new on-screen sparring partner. Boyd’s former club and boyhood heroes Rangers went down to a shock 1-0 defeat against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
But it was at the Ayrshire club where Boyd started his career before moving to Ibrox in a £500,000 deal. He came through the ranks at Rugby Park and signed his first professional deal at the age of 16 and it was the first of THREE spells at the club - his final two stints sandwiching a return to Rangers in 2014 after he left Ibrox for Middlesbrough four years earlier.
Boyd was effusive in his praise of the Ayrshiremen for the performance of Derek McInnes’ men against Michael Beale’s new-look side.
