Plean resident raises flooding concerns over new approved housing development

A local campaigner living near the site of a proposed new housing development in Plean believes valid concerns over flooding in the area have been ignored.Old Plean resident Elizabeth Hagan lives close to the location of the planned residential development, with 24 new affordable homes set to be built on land just south of Plean Parish Church.The plans will see a series of two, three and four bedroom houses built by developers Carmichael Homes - but the plans have been hit with a number of objections within the local community - including by Plean Community Council.The project - which is part of an investment in the area worth just over £6million - was given the go-ahead by the council’s planning and regulation panel last week, subject to certain conditions related to landscaping, access to the A9 and pedestrian crossings.However, Ms Hagan - who spoke as an objector at the planning meeting - has been left frustrated over the lack of understanding over flooding issues and that photographs she provided of the local flooding were not produced for councillors at the meeting.Ms Hagan said: “I have objected to this application all the way along the line because of the capacity for the water and sewage to flow and putting in this development in an area that has always flooded since I have been living here.“The land either side of the church is like a lake at times and they are also planning to put a sewage treatment centre in an area which is at medium risk of flooding.“The people in charge of these things just look at a computer screen and don’t come out to see the problems themselves and they have not looked at the photographs which I have sent off to the planning and roads departments at the council.“A centre like that would
