Listen to The Libertines’ rowdy new single ‘Oh Shit’

The Libertines have shared a rowdy new single titled ‘Oh Shit’ – check it out below.Released today (March 6), the track comes as the latest single to be released from the indie veterans’ upcoming album ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’ – following on from ‘Run, Run, Run’, ‘Night Of The Hunter’ and ‘Shiver’.Written by Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, the song is quintessentially The Libertines from start to end and sees the members create an earworm anthem, which pumps a much-needed dose of energy into increasingly difficult times.Made to be played live, the track kicks in with an upbeat, high-energy guitar riff, before the frontman opens with the line “Imo loves the feeling of rolling in the sun/ Rolling in the oceans/ she rolls until she’s numb.”“And she went/ Oh shit, oh shit/ Let’s make some money/ Just enough to get us by,” he sings in the anthemic chorus. “I want you when you smile/ You got the dollars in your eyes.”Set for release on April 5, The Libertines first announced news of their new album – which is the long-mooted follow-up to 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ – back in October by dropping the lead single ‘Run, Run, Run’.

Hear Shed Seven’s Pete Doherty collab ‘Throwaways’, as band head for Number One with new album
Shed Seven have shared their collaboration with Pete Doherty, ‘Throwaways’ from their new album ‘A Matter Of Time’.The track, which you can listen to below, sees The Libertines man share vocals with frontman Rick Witter.Speaking about how the collaboration came about, Witter recently told NME: “We played just before The Libertines on the main stage [at the Bingley Weekender in 2022] and while we were doing our set, I just looked at the side of the stage and discovered that Peter was stood there with my family watching the gig and he was singing every word.“So after we’d finished our gig, I went over and he was telling me that in the ’90s – pre-Libertines – he’d sit on his bed with his guitar and learn Shed Seven songs, which I thought was pretty cool. I just said, ‘Look we’ve got this song, we’ve got another couple of guests on our record, we might as well throw the boat out here, would you fancy jumping on?’ And he said, ‘I would absolutely love to’.”The song is the band’s sixth to be shared from their record after ‘Talk Of The Town’, ‘Starlings’, ‘Kissing California’, ‘F:K:H’ and ‘In Ecstasy‘ which features Happy Mondays singer Rowetta.Their new LP, which arrived last Friday (January 5), is currently on course to claim this week’s UK Number One album. It is ahead of this week’s chart topper – Lewis Capaldi‘s ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’ and the latest version of Busted‘s ‘Greatest Hits 2.0’, according to the Official Charts Company.Witter recently told NME: “I think it’s gonna be a big year for us, starting with the release of our brand new album in the first week of the 30th anniversary of our debut ‘Change Giver’.

The Libertines return with ‘Run Run Run’ and announce new album ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’
The Libertines have returned with new single ‘Run Run Run’, as well as announcing details of their long-awaited fourth album ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’ and some intimate Margate shows.Arriving on March 8, ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’ is the long-mooted follow-up to 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’, with the first taster arriving in the form of launch single ‘Run Run Run’ – a classic yet subtly raucous Libs indie dancefloor anthem that sees them reflect on their standing after more than two decades, as Carl Barat begins: “It’s the lifelong project of a life on the lash”.“It’s about being trapped, and trying to escape your dismal life, a bit like the man in Bukowski’s Post Office,” said Barat of the track. “The worst thing for The Libertines would be to get stuck in a ‘Run-run-run’ rut – constantly trying to relive our past.”As well as sharing a name with Erich Maria Remarque’s anti-war novel, the album’s title is in honour of the band’s Margate hotel, studio, restaurant and bar, The Albion Rooms – which is also depicted on the sleeve with a dramatic cast of characters from the world of faded seaside glamour.Consisting of 11 new tracks with songwriting credits shared among all four of the band, ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’ was produced by Dimitri Tikovoï (The Horrors/Charli XCX/Becky Hill) and recorded at The Albion Rooms in just four weeks back in February and March of 2023, before being finished over a wee at La Ferme de Gestein Studios in Normandy.
