Ignoring your phone's warnings could seriously harm your health. New research shows that smartphones and other devices could be causing lasting damage to our hearing.
The study, done by Boots Hearingcare, found that one in five UK adults who have seen a volume-limiter alert on their smartphone have ignored it and kept listening to their media at the same loudness.
Volume limiters are helpful alerts that tell you when a sound is too loud and might be hurting your ears. Some gadgets, like iPhones, send automatic alerts, while others need you to set the volume limit for music, videos and any other sounds yourself. Nobody believed me when I told them' Not only do one in five people admit to keeping the volume the same after getting a volume limit alert, nearly half say they 'sometimes turn the volume down'.
