A thoughtful Lanarkshire nurse who devised an eye-catching solution to take care of patients’ vital items during hospital stays has seen her idea become reality.Joanne Kane has been working since she was a student on the “belonging boxes” to ensure safe dedicated storage of glasses, hearing aids and dentures for in-patients – and now they are being put into use at University Hospital Hairmyres.They are being given to every older patient, and are set to be rolled out for older patients across NHS Lanarkshire’s hospitals if the current pilot project proves a success, while it has even been praised at the Scottish Parliament.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
