Northern Lights to be visible across Scotland tonight as Met Office issues update

The Met Office said the natural phenomenon could be seen into the early hours of Sunday morning.The forecaster predicts they could be seen as “strong” as last weekend, when webcams from the Shetland Islands and from onlookers in central and Eastern parts of England.Scots in the northern part of the country have the best chance of seeing the lights this weekend.
The Met Office said the best chances of seeing the natural phenomenon this weekend will be across northern parts of Scotland.It will also be able to be seen as far south as North Wales and the Midlands, depending on cloud coverage.
Simon Partridge, a senior meteorologist at the Met Office, told the PA news agency: "The Northern Lights will be visible tonight – until Sunday morning."They will mainly be visible from North Wales/Midlands northwards.
This is because there will be too much cloud across the rest of the UK tonight for it to be visible."The event is likely to be as strong as the one witnessed last weekend."
