Norah O’Donnell is leaving as a host of CBS Evening News. The CBS Evening News host will leave the network’s nightly news telecast after the presidential election in November, via an interview with Puck.
She will then transition to a new role at CBS News as a senior correspondent and “focus on major cross-platform interview specials while continuing to contribute to Evening News, 60 Minutes and other CBS programs,” according to the report. Keep reading to find out more… “The way our product is distributed is changing,” she explained. “How do we do those big interviews, that great storytelling, and share that in a different kind of way so it can reach a different kind of audience.” Additional details on her exit and CBS’s transition strategy will be announced at a later date.
Puck reports that CBS is unlikely to replace her with another anchor, and the telecast will likely rely on a rotating panel of anchors instead. Norah was named host and managing editor of CBS Evening News in 2019, after seven years as co-anchor of CBS This Morning.
She also serves as a correspondent on 60 Minutes, and as a correspondent and occasional fill-in host on Sunday-morning program Face the Nation.
