An NHS doctor has urged people to not throw away certain parts of fruit and to instead, eat it.Taking to TikTok, the NHS surgeon, Dr Karan Raj, shared his advice with his 5.3 million TikTok followers and explained that leaves and cores of some fruit have many benefits in them.

And they can all help you live a happier and healthier life. The health expert, who penned This Book May Save Your Life: Everyday Health Hacks to Worry Less and Live Better, said: "If you're eating strawberries, eat the leaves as well.

A strawberry topped with leaves is known as a CALYX and has a nutritional value on par with the berry itself."He goes on to explain that the green bits we all avoid are packed with polyphenols which are said to be antioxidants with the leaves containing almost as much vitamin C as the berry. The tops of the berry - which is often discarded with the leaves - also is great to consume as it contains magnesium and some fibre. It doesn't stop there with the doctor also noting that the stems of broccoli and the leaves of a radish also have many benefits and you shouldn't bin them.
