Monklands residents give generously to 2022 toy appeal

An amazing 1000 gifts and treats were donated to this year’s Monklands toy appeal and distributed to youngsters across Airdrie and Coatbridge to make it a merry Christmas.

Big-hearted local residents and supermarket staff gave generously to make sure our collection points were piled high with welcome gifts throughout December.Toy appeal co-ordinator Norbert Grant and volunteers from Airdrie hillwalking group helped to sort the donations and pass them on through local schools and good causes to their delighted young recipients.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Hundreds of toys, games, books and selection boxes were handed in at donation points at the Airdrie branches of Morrisons and Tesco and at Asda in Coatbridge during the five weeks of the appeal.Presents were distributed to youngsters across Airdrie and Coatbridge thanks to a network of local schools, Coatbridge health visitors, Bear Necessities charity and St Vincent de Paul – with one grateful school saying how youngsters and their families were “over the moon to receive these gifts”.Norbert said: “The appeal has grown and evolved once
