Meghan Markle appears to have used the launch of a new website to make changes to her own public persona. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quietly launched their Sussex.com website this week with the new page raising eyebrows as it makes constant use of their royal titles. However, that's not the only questionable detail on the site as Meghan has chosen to completely drop her surname, which is highly unusual. While the royal family tend to not use surnames, with neither Prince Harry or William having one on their birth certificates , Meghan did continue to use 'Markle' on occasion following her marriage to the duke in 2018.

This was a decision that was likely to be linked to her previous career as an actress, given that the public had long known her by her full name, the Mirror reports.

A picture of the former royal couple dominates the main web page, overlaid with the text: "The Office of Prince Harry & Meghan, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex".

It also displays a royal coat of arms. In the "About" section, the former Suits actress is simply referred to as Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and described, in part, as "feminist and champion of human rights and gender equity".The new Sussex page has sparked fury with critics stating that Harry and Meghan have used the rebrand to emphasise their royal status, while also failing to make any reference to the Royal Family. The biography for the Duke, who is currently fifth in line to the throne, does not make any mention of the monarchy despite his royal title being plastered across the site.
