During the last four years, several relationships between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and members of both of their families have deteriorated - namely with both of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's grandfathers, King Charles and Thomas Markle.
It is these important relationships which the young royals - who are aged just four and two - are missing out on. And, with their lives firmly planted in the US, they likely have little understanding of what their roles would have been if they were being raised in the UK as the sixth and seventh in line to the throne.
While the pair have both met their paternal grandfather and are thought to take part in video calls, one commentator has claimed that keeping the young royals in the US and away from their heritage is not "fair".
Royal commentator Lydia Alty explained: “When Meghan moved to the US and took Prince Harry and her children with her, I personally didn’t think she was happy once she left or about the idea she would want to return to the UK. "She didn't like the Royal Family, so left the institution to start a new life in California.
