Man with life-threatening injuries in hospital after Johnstone 'stabbing' as arrest made

A man has been arrested after a horror 'stabbing' left a 45-year-old with life-threatening injuries.Emergency services descended on Houston Square in Johnstone on Thursday at around 3.45pm, following reports of a man being seriously assaulted.Officers cordoned off the area between the Dessert Kings takeaway and Penman's pharmacy, where the square meets William Street.The victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he received treatment for life-threatening injuries.

His condition remains serious but stable at this time.A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Houston Square in Johnstone at around 3.45pm on Thursday, 23 March, after a 45-year-old man was assaulted.“He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he received treatment for life threatening injuries.
