ABC Sets ‘The Wonder Years’ Season 2 Return After Fred Savage Firing
thewrap.comABC announced the anticipated release date for the Season 2 premiere of “The Wonder Years,” landing more than a year since executive producer and director Fred Savage — who starred in the original series — was fired from the show after multiple allegations of inappropriate conduct.The comedy series is set to return with a special one-hour premiere event starting 9 p.m.
Wednesday, June 14. Lee Daniels, Saladin K. Patterson, Bob Daily and Jacque Edmonds Cofer serve as executive producers on the series.
Patterson also serves as showrunner. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios. Savage was fired from the reboot series following an investigation into charges of inappropriate behavior, a spokesman for 20th Television confirmed to TheWrap in May 2022.
Specifics regarding the misconduct were not revealed at the time. In August, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that a group of six women who worked on the show brought up the allegations to Disney HR that led to his ousting, including a former crew member that accused him of sexual assault a former crew member, along with allegations he would routinely “verbally harass and belittle” below-the-line staff on set.“Since I was 6 years old, I have worked on hundreds of sets with thousands of people, and have always strived to contribute to an inclusive, safe and supportive work environment.
