A murderer who killed the son of a former Manchester United star has died in a Lancashire prison. Simon Fell was jailed for life in March 1996 for the murder of 26-year-old Grant Noble outside the Station pub in Sale, Trafford, two years earlier.
Mr Noble, a dad-of-two, was the son of former Manchester United player Bobby Noble. Bobby, a full-back, played a large role in the Red Devils' title winning team of 1966/67 - before a car crash in Sale left him with head, chest, and leg injuries which ultimately led to the end of his playing career.
He passed away in August 2023. READ MORE: Goodbye, Sir Bobby Charlton - a true Manchester icon READ MORE: Manchester United confirm Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund injuries as crisis deepens Fell was jailed with a minimum term of 15 years but remained in prison after this period expired.
He was moved to HMP Wymott, near Leyland, in April 2019. Fell had several health issues, including high blood pressure, and had convinced himself that he would be blinded unless he wore a cap and sunglasses.
