Jamie Lang Madrid – The Hague-based Latin Quarter Entertainment, a sales, co-production and distribution outfit, has acquired U.K.

and German theatrical rights to “The Bail” (“La fianza”) from debut Colombian-Spanish director Gonzalo Perdomo. The deal was closed during this year’s Iberseries & Platino Industria market in Madrid.

An official synopsis for the black comedy thriller reads: “After celebrating her daughter’s sixth birthday, Ana receives an unwelcome visit from Walter, a strange man looking for her husband Ricardo, with whom he has unfinished business.

What begins as a comfortable visit for Ana ends up becoming a disturbing situation in which she discovers Ricardo’s constant lies and infidelities, as well as the real reason why Walter is in her house: to hold her and her daughter as collateral for Ricardo to close a deal with the dangerous drug organization for which Walter works.” “‘The Bail’ was born from two very simple premises,” explained Perdomo. “On the one hand, I want to tell the story of a woman who, in order to improve her situation, changes country, culture and life.
