Josh Kerr has revealed the reason behind his signature sunglasses look ahead of the 1500m final at the Paris Olympics.Reigning world champion Kerr, from Edinburgh, won bronze at the Tokyo Games in 2021 but has been clear about his desire to finish top of the podium this summer.
He is not the only Scot who will be vying for a medal, though, as Glasgow's Neil Gourley will also join him at the start line.Kerr was named Team GB captain before jetting off to Paris and has developed a reputation for his straight-talking approach to interviews.
The 26-year-old is expected to stick with his trademark sunglasses style for the Olympic final and Kerr believes the fashion statement helps give him a mental edge over his rivals.Speaking to BBC Sport, Kerr explained the reason for his eyewear: "I think, with the sunglasses, it definitely lets me stand out.
When the glasses go on, it's game time. In the World Championships last year, I was wearing the darker sunglasses before heading out, so you couldn't see my eyes."I chucked them on in the call room, I was just looking around, seeing what people were doing and no one knew where I was looking, so people were getting a little bit peeved off at me.
