In a new wide-ranging interview with The New York Times' "Popcast (Deluxe)" show, Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, recalled growing up in a "middle-class neighborhood, but I didn’t know one person on my street with a career."I didn’t know anything else.
Everybody did drugs. Nobody had a career, nobody had a job. People that had jobs were really blue-collar, hard-working jobs.
