Community group humbled by tragic tales of town’s asylum seekers at 'inspiring' welcome meeting

The newly formed East Kilbride Integration Network (EKin) welcomed the town’s asylum seekers and refugees to an "inspiring" first meeting.Despite Storm Isha, almost 40 of South Lanarkshire town's refugee community responded to the invitation to gather at the Village Centre on Sunday to share their experience of life in the town, and discuss ways in which they can further integrate and contribute to their new community in East Kilbride.The refugees came from all over the world with Yemen, Libya, Syria, Eritrea, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Ukraine, Iran and Georgia all represented at the meeting where their aspirations for contributing to Scottish society were discussed.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
