Ex-BBC News anchor Kate Silverton, who left her broadcasting career to become a child therapist, has demanded a fitting sentence for Huw Edwards by the judge, after shocking details emerged about the former News At Ten host. The revelations about Edwards' actions surfaced as it was disclosed in court that he created indecent images of children from December 2020 to August 2021.The broadcasting stalwart owned up to possessing 41 illicit images via WhatsApp, including seven classified as particularly extreme.

Kate, who parted ways with the BBC in 2021, felt compelled to finally break her silence and advocate on behalf of the child victims.

She criticised the usage of the phrase 'child porn' concerning these images, firmly stating that viewing them equates to 'child violation.' Making a poignant call for empathy towards the children affected and the lifelong trauma they will endure, Kate opened up, revealing her personal connection to their plight: "I know this because I was one of those children," the former newsreader confided, reports the Mirror.

Kate has voiced her concerns over the potential leniency of Edwards' sentence, which is due next month, for his involvement in child exploitation.
