In a groundbreaking moment, this year the UK finally witnessed its first gay dating show, I Kissed A Boy. However, one of the stars of the show Ollie King, revealed he previously had a plan to crash another very popular dating show in order to make a powerful statement about representation.

Ollie, 27, who starred in the BBC's latest series hosted by Dannii Minogue, almost secured a spot on Love Island instead, which traditionally caters to heterosexual (and occasionally bisexual) individuals. The Brighton-based tarmacer successfully navigated through a significant portion of the application process, although not everything turned out to be as straightforward as it initially appeared.

Speaking to Metro, he shared: "I actually applied for Love Island a few years ago, “I got through a lot of stages, but I did actually say that I was bisexual.
