‘Here Lies Love’ review: David Byrne musical makes Broadway a nightclub

West Side Story” and “Fiddler on the Roof” in is totally unrecognizable.Once we’re acclimated to the changed space, however, we start to ask more of the story. Broadway, after all, is a vastly different place than the Public Theater where I first saw the musical in the smaller LuEsther Hall 10 years ago and liked it a hair more.

I got Jason Aldean’s ‘Small Town’ canceled by CMT: gun-control activist
accused of promoting violence with his latest song “Try That in a Small Town,” which includes the inflammatory lyrics: “Got a gun that my granddad gave me / They say one day they’re gonna round up / Well, that s–t might fly in the city, good luck / Try that in a small town.”Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, brought attention to the lyrics in a tweet posted Sunday night, in which she said the song is “about how [Aldean] and his friends will shoot you if you try to take their guns.”Watts also pointed out that Aldean “was on-stage during the mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert in 2017 that killed 60 people and wounded over 400 more.”The music video for “Try That in a Small Town” — which sees Aldean performing in front of a courthouse known for lynchings — was pulled from CMT programming following the backlash..@Jason_Aldean – who was on-stage during the mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert in 2017 that killed 60 people and wounded over 400 more – has recorded a song called “Try That In A Small Town” about how he and his friends will shoot you if you try to take their guns. pic.twitter.com/hWGdEgS33vThe video was released on Friday, July 14, and played on CMT through the morning music video hours on Sunday, July 16, according to Billboard. While Watts’ tweet came later that same Sunday, the news of the removal broke on Tuesday, and upon hearing about it, she tweeted: “Proud to have had a hand in getting CMT to reject this racist and violent song.”Despite the video being pulled from CMT, ABC still decided to air a pre-taped performance of Aldean’s song as part of its CMA Fest concert special Wednesday.

Shakira facing new tax investigation in Spain shortly after Miami move
an existing tax fraud case over alleged missed tax payments between 2012 and 2014, the “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker, 46, is facing yet another blow after officials confirmed Thursday that an investigation will be launched into two possible cases of tax fraud from 2018.The probe will be conducted by a judge at a court in the Esplugues de Llobregat region of Spain, near Barcelona, and is the same court that launched her initial investigation which is going to trial. The “Whenever, Wherever” singer, who relocated to Miami with her two sons earlier this year, will have to return to Barcelona in November to stand trial. Her dramatic move across the pond comes after she split from her former partner and soccer star Gerard Piqué.“Court of Instruction Number 2 in Esplugues de Llobregat has opened a procedure following a complaint presented by prosecutors against the singer Shakira for two suspected tax crimes corresponding to her 2018 tax returns,” a spokesperson for Catalonia’s High Court of Justice said in a statement. The Colombian pop star has been in the throes of a legal battle for allegedly failing to pay $14.7 million in taxes when she lived in Spain between 2012 and 2014, a time she claims she did not live in the country. Shakira — real name Shakira Mebarak — said she’s endured the “darkest hours” of her life as the Spanish government threatens her with up to eight years in prison if she’s found guilty of stiffing the country of millions of dollars in taxes.Prosecutors insist Shakira did live in the country during that time and said she bought a home in Barcelona in May 2012.
