Good Morning Britain star issues warning after ‘disturbing’ phone call

Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh has shared her experience with a phone call scammer who left her "cold" after telling her he had her personal details.

The former Strictly contestant, who danced with Giovanni Pernice, first spoke of the incident on her social media, then discussed it today (Thursday 27 June) with co-hosts Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder on GMB.The 43-year-old presenter revealed to Kate and Rob that she's almost fallen victim to a financial crime after receiving a phone call from someone claiming to work at her bank.

After Kate told her: "You know I like to stalk you on Instagram, if I can’t in real life, and it’s usually hilarious, but actually, really disturbing thing you posted", Ranvir went on to explain what happened in more detail. "I got a phone call from a very nice polite man, saying, 'Hi this is from your bank', and he named the bank", she said.The man then asked her if she'd noticed any fraudulent activity on her account, and querued her about her recent transactions, including one from UberEats. "I said, 'oh no I haven’t', and he said, 'Ok fine, do you have your card with you and are these the last four digits?,' and he named them correctly." Ranvir said alarm bells began to ring at this point, telling Kate "something in my mind just went, 'I'm meant to not be talking to this guy".

After telling the caller she wanted to phone the bank directly herself, the scammer said he was able to do that for her because he had all of her personal details at hand. "I got cold then," Ranvir revealed.
