East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy says his 19 new players are settling in faster than expected, and are ready to take on a Lowland League title tilt.Kilby kick-off their campaign at home to Broomhill on Saturday, followed by a trip to Gretna 2008 on Wednesday. They prepared for that with a 9-0 win over Camelon Juniors on Saturday, following a 2-0 midweek defeat at home to Championship side Ayr United.“Our aspirations are to try and win the league and I think, in terms of how we’ve recruited and how we look just now, we’re in a strong position to compete at the top end of the table,” said Kennedy.“Everything seems to be fairly positive and we seem to be moving in the right direction.“The players have probably settled a lot better than we expected them to.“The concern was, with us bringing in the number of new players to the level that we did, it would take a bit of time to bed them in.“But credit to the players, they seem to have picked things up relatively quickly, and seem to have settled as a group.“You’d think they had been together for a number of years.”Kennedy has described the pre-season as being “really positive”.He continued: “It’s hard to read into the results, but in terms of the philosophy we’re trying to embed, there are good early signs.“The most pleasing thing outwith the results is the standard and level we’ve got to quite quickly.“I think we’re in a very strong position.

Obviously there are a some real quality sides within the league, so it will be a really competitive league, going forward.“But we’ve been fairly high-scoring, and because our style is very possession-based, it’s important to add goals to the end of that.
