East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy targets perfect Lowland League start

East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy has targeted nine points in seven days to get off to the perfect start in the Lowland League.Kilby are a third of the way there, following Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Broomhill, and they’re on the road to visit Gretna 2008 tonight (Wednesday) before a trip to University of Stirling on Saturday.Kennedy knows it’s not going to be easy to take full points from that sequence, but reckons it would show intent if they manage to take the three wins.“It’s two very difficult games for different reasons,” said Kennedy.“We have the challenge of travelling down to Gretna on a Wednesday night, which brings its own difficulties, and then we have a very young, fit Stirling side.“There has been a bit of change there this summer but Chris Geddes will have them playing well and they will be really competitive.“We’ll try and concentrate on getting three points at Gretna on Wednesday night, and the focus then changes to Stirling University on Saturday.“It will be really difficult, but if we could pick up seven points in nine days that would be a fantastic start.“But we’re very aware of the challenge that lies ahead of us and it won’t be easy.”With Kilby targeting promotion from the Lowland League, Kennedy was aware of pressure, and reckons they handled that well as they swept aside Broomhill.“It was important to get off to a good start,” he said. “There’s a lot of hype about the place and you need to embrace that, while keeping people’s feet on the ground.“But I think it would have been a disaster if we had dropped points in the very first game.“There was quite a big crowd there on Saturday as well, so it’s trying to keep as much momentum behind it as possible, so I think three points were critically
