Aunt's Walk of Hope after East Kilbride teen dies from ‘one in a billion odds’ brain tumour

A Lanarkshire woman who has lost three members of her family to the same type of brain tumour will lead a Walk of Hope in a bid to find a cure for the disease.Claire Cordiner’s 18-year-old nephew Max Jones, from East Kilbride, died last month of glioblastoma (GBM) and on Friday was laid to rest.

At odds of one in a billion, his tragic death follows Claire also losing her mum and her sister a year apart. Claire’s mum, Margaret O’Kane, 67, from Wishaw, died in October 2008 and her youngest sister, Angie Jones, from East Kilbride, passed away in December 2009, when she was just 36.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
