East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy says he is impressed by how quickly his side have gelled after a strong showing in their friendly with Queen of the South. The K-Park gaffer took charge of his first game since his move from West of Scotland League cracks Darvel towards the end of last season, and the home fans will likely have been pleased with the their first impressions, as Kennedy's side earned a 1-1 draw with the League One outfit.Kilby responded well to Gavin Reilly's fourth minute strike to level from the penalty spot through captain Liam Brown after 31 minutes, and dominated a side who play two levels above. It is, of course, very early days but there are promising signs with the fluidty of EK's play in the middle of the park, in particular, and Kennedy admitted it even took him by surprise how quickly his side have taken to his philosophy. He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed how we played.

I think it is clearly evident, if anyone is watching us for the first time, how the philosophy will be at the club."We've only had the boys for a couple of weeks and we weren't at full strength, but I felt the way we carried out style of play was thoroughly impressive - and even more so when Queen of the South put on a full, fresh team in the second half."I felt we dominated the game and we probably should have scored a couple of more goals.

The boys were excellent."We have got a clear style we want to play and, if the players get it right, it is very effective."We will be hard to play against.

And you could see that today with the rotations in the possession, inverted full-backs and things like that."That is credit to the boys because they have picked it up so quickly."To be honest, I didn't expect they would.
