A disabled mum has hit out at the Highland Wildlife Park after she was refused entry with her emotional support dog. Emma Lilley, 48, who suffers from neurological dysfunction, was left shocked when staff at the animal park told her she could not take Binky, a nine-month-old toy Chihuahua, through the gates of the centre in Kincraig on Saturday, May 6.The mum-of-one had made a two-hour trip from her home in Keith, Moray, with her husband, Martin, 42, mum, Ann Carnatt, 70, and daughter, Kira, 19.Emma claims staff refused to let Binky inside without paperwork and advised she could leave the dog at a nearby kennels.

In the UK, emotional support animals are not legally recognised - only paperwork is given to trained service animals including guide dogs. The mum has now accused the centre of discriminating against 'invisible disabilities'.

Emma told the Record: "I couldn't believe it. Binky was in a bag and wasn't going to be able to get out to see any of the animals."When we arrived I explained Binky was an emotional support dog - she's not a pet."To receive a stand-off reception at the wildlife park really upset me. "We were told we could take Binky to a nearby kennels and return to the park ourselves.

It completely ruined our day."Martin added: "I found it so disrespectful and disgraceful when they suggested that we put Binky in the local kennels and come back."They didn't acknowledge she is an emotional support dog.
