Coronation Street star joins Mrs Brown's Boys as she makes huge TV comeback

Former Coronation Street star Debra Stephenson has been confirmed to have signed up for the latest series of Mrs Brown's Boys.The 51-year-old actress and comedian is set to make a huge on-screen comeback for the popular BBC comedy show when it airs next month.

The popular actress is best known for her role as Frankie Baldwin on the ITV soap from 2004 to 2006. Now she'll be starring as Anita, who is a close friend of Cathy Brown, and is tipped for some "brilliant storylines."The Daily Star has even speculated Debra could be becoming a more permanent part of the iconic family, with viewers wondering if she might actually turn out to be Cathy's half-sister.Debra has appeared in a variety of smash hit UK shows including Bad Girls, Playing The Field, Holby City, Doctors and Waterloo Road.A source told the Daily Star: "Debra is perfect for Mrs Brown’s Boys because she is brilliant at comedy.

Producers are confident viewers are going to absolutely love her." They added: "Debra is part of some brilliant storylines. There’s speculation she could be Cathy’s half sister, so she could quite literally become part of the family."Four new episodes are set to be broadcasted on both BBC One and iPlayer next month.

The show, which is filmed at the BBC Scotland studios, started as a radio comedy before moving to the stage and finally hitting TV screens in 2011.Brendan O'Carroll, who created the series, told the BBC back in March: "This mini-series was actually planned for 2021.
