A 66 year-old man from Manchester has been charged by police after Just Stop Oil protests disrupted the Wimbledon tennis championships.

The Metropolitan Police in London said Simon Milner-Edwards, of Dartmouth Road, Chorlton, has been charged with aggravated trespass.

In a statement on Friday, the Metropolitan Police said: "Three people have been charged with aggravated trespass following two incidents at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on Wednesday, 5 July. "Deborah Wilde, 68, from the Noel Park area of London, Simon Milner-Edwards, 66, of Dartmouth Road, Manchester, and William Ward, 66, of Stoneleigh Road, Surrey, have all been released on bail to appear at Westminster magistrates court on Monday, 7 August. "They arrested following two separate incidents at the tournament on the afternoon of Wednesday, 5 July.

They were detained by security staff before being arrested by Met officers." Wilde, said by Just Stop Oil to be a retired teacher, Ward IS said to be a retired civil engineer and Milner-Edwards was described by the group as a retired musician, were arrested just after 2pm on Wednesday after a protest during a match between Grigor Dimitrov and Sho Shimabukuro.
