Celtic have pleaded with fans to hold fire on the pyro against Lazio after the Parkhead club were punished for fireworks in Holland. The Hoops have copped a £23,000 fine for letting off flares in last month’s Champions League clash with Feyenoord in De Kuip.
UEFA beaks will be watching Parkhead tonight for the visit of the Italians and club chiefs have urged supporters to leave the fireworks to the action on the pitch.A statement said: “Clearly, we are concerned that, despite repeated requests and safety warnings, a small minority continue to use pyrotechnics at Celtic’s matches.
The use of pyrotechnics represents a serious risk to the safety of our supporters. Celtic has been hit with another significant sanction by UEFA due to this behaviour.
Again, the club requests that this conduct stops." Celtic – along with numerous clubs around the continent – have been hit by several fines over the past 10 years totalling up to more than £250,000 for pyro and banners.
