Amy Dowden arrives at Strictly ahead of first live show after cancer diagnosis

Amy Dowden has been spotted grinning as she headed into the Strictly Come Dancing studios for her first appearance since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.The dancer, who joined the show back in 2017, joined the other professionals as they filmed the group dance for the launch show - but this will be Amy's first visit to the live show in the newest series.The Mirror reports that the dancer arrived at Elstree Studios wearing a denim dress, white trainers and a headscarf, after she shared a snap of her shaved head a few weeks back.The 33-year-old will most likely be a guest of honour on tonight's show, after she announced she would not be competing alongside a celebrity.Amy is currently undergoing chemotherapy as part of her breast cancer treatment after she was diagnosed with the disease in the spring.She is on her fifth round of chemo, and is hopeful she will finish the treatment next month.

Amy said: "I dream every night of being back on the dance floor. But I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment."Earlier on this week, Amy shared the upsetting side effects of the treatment, including losing all her hair.

The star said: "’m starting to lose my eyelashes, my hair follicles are dying, so your eyes stream more because they’re sensitive."It’s more than that, though."Amy also detailed the life-threatening side effects that come alongside chemo, including a weakened immune system.After her first round, Amy initially felt "great", and went for a five-mile walk with her dad not long after - but collapsed soon into the workout.She said: "I had a temperature and didn’t realise the severity of having a temperature.
