British holidaymakers who were caught up in chaotic crowds in one of the world's most beautiful island destinations have vowed never to return again.The irate tourists explained how their dream trips to Santorini turned out to be miserable, over-crowded nightmares, reports the Mirror.They were speaking the week after a senior politician on the Greek island urged locals to stay indoors as 11,000 cruise ship passengers descended on Santorini on a single day eager to bask in its beauty.

Each year 3.4million people travel to the Aegean Sea island to walk around its white-washed buildings and view its famous sunsets.As the world continues to bounce back from the pandemic, so has the number of people visiting the Greek island, Santorini.

Now, two years after lockdown travel measures were last lifted and with the country sizzling in a ferocious heatwave, it seems that people have grown sick of the density and intensity of the crowds.

Many of the island's 20,000 permanent residents are calling for restrictions to the visitor numbers to limit the damaging impacts of over-tourism.
