BREAKING: Man's body found in canal as emergency services swarm Asda car park in Ashton-under-Lyne

A man's body is understood to have been found in a canal in Ashton-under-Lyne on Tuesday afternoon (June 20). Emergency services swarmed the Asda car park, beside the Ashton Canal, at around 4.30pm.

Police and the fire service, including the Technical Response Unit, attended the scene, near Lower Wharf Street, where the body of a man was understood to have been discovered in the the water.

A number of police vehicles, including forensics, remained at the scene and beside the water as investigations were carried out.
