Golden celebration for landmark Lanarkshire high-rise block

Residents forming a close-knit community at a much-loved Lanarkshire tower block pulled together for a special celebration to mark its golden anniversary.Milton Court in Airdrie was built in 1973, and tenants of the 94 properties came together for a coffee morning to share their memories of its unique five-decade history.

Its heart is a busy shared social room hosting regular events such as book clubs, fundraisers and bingo – and the block’s popularity with older residents led to it making history nearly a decade ago when North Lanarkshire designated all its flats as a community specifically for over-60s.
